Detox Reset Cleanse

Why Cleanse?

As you know, I bang on about insulin resistance and inflammation quite a bit.  In this case it is inflammation which is the important part.  Increased inflammation in our bodies contributes to disease development and one of the major drivers of this is toxins from what we are eating. These toxins are stored in our bodies, specifically our fat tissue and making us over-weight, inflamed and ill.  They also drain our energy and wreck our health making it absolutely necessary to purge our body of these nasty chemicals.  My Detox Reset cleanse is a system which does just that.

Inflammation is the body’s natural response to protecting us against foreign bacteria, viruses, and infection. When it senses a threat, the body triggers the release of chemicals and white blood cells and gets fighting. What to Eliminate?

Foods which commonly cause problems include:
1.  GLUTEN

Wheat, barley, rye and oats that are not marked as gluten free contain problematic prolamines.

2. DAIRY

More than half the world population suffers from some kind of milk intolerance or allergy.  If you are one of these people then you may find that milk from other mammals such as goats or sheep does not cause problems.

3. RED MEATS

Red meats should be avoided because of farming practices using hormones and antibiotics stored that end up stored in the fat.  To avoid these toxins you can choose organic meat instead.

Industrial spreads exacerbate the inflammatory response and are best avoided entirely.  Butter is better if you need it.

5.  SUGAR AND ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS

Cane sugar is inflammatory and it is a major driver of insulin resistance.  We do not need it in our diets.  Artificial sweeteners trick the body into thinking it is dealing with sugar and are exactly what they say on the tin – artificial.

6.  CAFFEINE

Caffeine is addictive and it lasts in the body for hours.  Also it gives you a false energy boost stopping you getting enough sleep.

7.  ALCOHOL

Alcohol is processed by the liver.  Quit for a short time to give your liver a break!

8.  SOY

Soy is highly processed and full of toxins.

9.  VEGETABLE OILS

Vegetable oils are high in omega-6 fatty acids which are inflammatory.  Omega-3 fatty acids on the other hand, are anti-inflammatory.  Omega-3s can be found in olive oil, avocado oil and coconut oil as well as fish oils, chia seeds and walnuts.
